While I am partying at the world’s biggest geek fest I know other things are still happening out there in the world. Heard this last night listening to my favorite talkshow host Randi Rhodes. Thought you might be interested in this interview. Has Warren turned over a new leaf? I don’t know. Melissa (and Randi) seem willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. What do you think?
Here’s a link to melissa’s post over at Huffington Post. She is reading the comments over there so write one and tell her your thoughts. Anyone can post over there. Of course I would love to hear from you too right here…

Pope Benedict made his remarks in an end-of-year speech
Gay groups and activists have reacted angrily after Pope Benedict XVI said that mankind needed to be saved from a destructive blurring of gender.
Speaking on Monday, Pope Benedict said that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour was as important as protecting the environment.
you can read it here
(then you can go back to my last post and listen to Holly Near again…val)
I heard about this organizing going on over the internet in response to Rick Warren’s selection. For those of you who don’t know the reasons why we are so upset about this guy here’s a few…
1. he compares gay people to pedophiles & those who practice incest
2. he openly bars gay people from joining his church
3. his church has workshops to try and change people from being gay to heterosexual
4. he reaches millions of people with this anti-gay message and make lots of money doing it in the process.
I can go on…and..on…
Anyway, check out this website especially if you’re planning to be there for Obama’s swearing in. Here’s what they are asking you do:
We are asking all LGBT people and allies in attendance at the inauguration to turn their backs to the podium when Rick Warren speaks. This silent act is not disruptive, but will send a simple message to President-elect Obama: we refuse to be treated like second-class citizens any longer.
