Stop the Hate

Some of the people listening to the right wing noise machine may not be stable. America has seen violence from hateful rhetoric in our past. People bringing guns to healthcare rallies this summer was shocking to me. I’m old enough to remember JFK & Bobby & MLK & Harvey Milk. It’s time we all say no to hate. People willing to stoke the fires of violence in order to regain power have lost all ability to ever lead this country. People who understand what’s going on and do nothing are complicit.

Great Women of Texas: Molly Ivans

No sheros list would be complete without a nod to Molly. I miss her. She made such great fun and sense out of politics. I used to read her column in our local paper in the morning out loud to Emily as we sat around the kitchen table drinking coffee. She could put things into perspective so quickly and have me holding my sides from laughter. Here’s a taste…It’s a speech she gave just before the 2004 election to students in pre-katrina New Orleans at Tulane. It’s pretty long so grab a cup of coffee, sit down and enjoy…
