After deciding that we had given enough money to the casinos on the strip we went to the older downtown area of Las Vegas to try our luck. Freemont Street is really cool with a video show above your heads every 15 minutes or so. There’s huge speakers blasting music and even some live entertainment between The Horseshoe, The Golden Nugget and The 4 Queens casinos. Some say the odds are better there because they don’t have the expenses of the touristy strip. Fancy Smancy, houty touty and all. We didn’t find that to be true as they took all our money there as well.
Now this is cool. It’s the Tank at the Golden Nugget. The pool is heated with chairs submerged in the water facing the shark aquarium. The bar is right next to it. Inside the shark tank is the slide for the pool. It’s clear plexiglass so the sharks are swimming all around you as you hurl your body down the slide. I didn’t see anyone using it so I don’t know how fast you zoom by jaws but it would be great if you could stop and hang out there a bit and watch them.

Today at CES we are in search of TV’s. There’s a new one out I want to check out that’s called OLED. before this show Sony’s 11″ screen oled cost over $2500. I’m anxious to find out more about it and when the price will drop so it can come out in Larger screen sizes. I hear it is gorgeous to look at. The O stands for organic but that’s all I know so far.
I remember buying one of the first Sony trinatron TV’s back in the early 80’s. The resolution at the time was so great that I even found myself watching game shows and the PTL club. I didn’t care what they said and sometimes forgot to turn the sound on. I was just blown away by how clear the picture was. It just keeps getting better and better.
We’re heading over to the convention in a few hours but in the meantime here’s a few vegas shots for ya…

I like David Letterman’s question about our current economic times…He said we have all lost our money…but where did it go? Everywhere you look we’ve lost it and it just went away…his answer: “I think China’s got it all.” I think he maybe half right anyway. Cheney took the rest to Dubai…Betcha a million bucks that’s true.
