The OutLoud Women’s Book Group will meet Sunday, September 13 at 3:00 pm to discuss Isabel Miller’s lesbian classic Patience and Sarah.
“Set in the nineteenth century, Isabel Miller’s classic lesbian novel, Patience and Sarah, traces the relationship between Patience White, a painter, and Sarah Dowling, a farmer, whose romantic bond does not sit well with the puritanical New England farming community in which they live. Ultimately, they are forced to make life-changing decisions that depend on their courage and their commitment to one another.” (Book Jacket)
The novel is based on the very real lives of pioneering lesbian couple, the painter Mary Ann Wilson and her companion “Miss Brundidge.”
And here are the selections for the October and November meetings.
Oct. 11 the book is Bittersweet by Nevada Barr.
Nov. 8 the book is The Secret Keeping by Francine Saint Marie.
As always, everyone is welcome and you don’t have to read the book to attend.
