here’ the jist of it and it goes back to Cheney once again.
The White House awarded a one-month, $140,000 contract to an individual who never held a federal contract. His name was Mitchell Wade and he has since plead guilty to paying California Representative Duke Cunningham over a million dollars in bribes for Defense Contracts. (Supposedly the $140,000 from Cheney was to purchase office furniture & Computers for Cheney.) The same week Wade received the $140,000 an unknown “third party” went and negotiated for the boat that was eventuallybought for Duke Cunningham. Two weeks after Wade got paid from Cheney, he went to a yacht action with Cunningham and bought the yacht for $140,000…the pre-negotiated price. Wade, that same contractor used a cashier’s check for exactly that amount to buy the boat for a now-imprisoned congressman at a price that the congressman supposedly had pre-negotiated. Randy “Duke” Cunningham who now sits in jail was living on his boat “The Duke-Stir” up until his arrest & conviction. One of the fired prosecutors was San Diego based U.S. Attorney Carol Lam. She was the prosecutor in the Duke Cunningham case. Although reports in mainstream media are saying she had her sights next on CIA official Kyle “Dusty” Fargo and then house appropriations committee chairman Jerry Lewis (R-Calif) could it be a bigger “fish” she was after? If she knew the details of the yacht deal she knew it matched the $140,000 from Dick Cheney’s office. Now there’s a reason why they might want to get rid of her don’t ya think? Watch this story because it is not going to go away if you ask me. -Val

P.S. here’s another interesting tibbit…Senator Arlon Spector had cancer and was undergoing chemo. during that time he was contacted by the White House and basically ordered to put someone on his staff that the WhiteHouse had picked. This new staff member is the one that inserted into the Patriot act a clause that allowed during times of war the WhiteHouse to appoint (& fire) prosecutors without senate confirmation (or oversight) The Patriot Act had already been through the house & senate at this point and was waiting for White House approval. The change was unknown to any of the Senators or Congress (since it was added after the vote) including Spector himself even though the change supposedly came “out of his office.” I heard this yesterday on Air America/Thom Hartman 3/19/07

can it get any more slimy?
